Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE IN GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; and in the Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God.
WE REVERENTLY RECEIVE THE SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments, and believe them to be the inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
WE BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, who, in the beginning “was with God,” and “was God,” and who “Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness” (1 Peter 2:24).
WE BELIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT has led us to repent of all our sins, and to turn from them, and to obey Christ where He says, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Mark 8:34).
WE BELIEVE THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD, and in the final judgment of all people. “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him” (John 3:36).
WE BELIEVE THAT WE ARE SAVED "BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH" in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that good works are the certain fruit of such faith. We therefore offer ourselves for Christian service as a means of expressing our gratitude to Him, and to extend His cause.
WE CHEERFULLY SUBMIT OURSELVES to the instruction and government of this church, and we promise to promote its purity, peace and welfare by all means within our power, so long as we shall continue to be a member.
WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO OUR SANCTIFICATION by consciously committing ourselves to a life of holiness as expressed especially in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20; Deuteronomy 5) and as further articulated in the code of ethics presented by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) and throughout the New Testament. This ethical code includes commitment to a life of personal holiness in word and deed, within our relationships with one another, and includes a commitment to the standards of purity that includes our sexual lives. We affirm that our sexuality is God’s gift, and we are called to live chastely in thought and action whereby sex remains solely within the biblical covenant of holy marriage between a man and a woman.
CONCLUSION
So then, as a community our intent is to bring our communication, identity, sexuality, work, science, education, resources, relationships, in fact all things under the loving reign of Jesus. We endeavor, with the help of the word of Christ, the Spirit of Christ, and the body of Christ, to rightly order our love of God, humanity and experience, so that by becoming free from idolatry we might bear God’s image and positively contribute to the common good.
